Ever notice that although the rose is a magnificent flower, it has thorns. Do not just stop loving someone because of first appearances or impressions, because often times the lowly people and poor of this world are great people. God loved us enough to see past our thorns as well. Our thorns of sin, baggage and rebellion. You know what, Jesus still died for all of us despite our thorns, he wore the crown of thorns as he was nailed to a cross for every sin you and I committed. Why? because he saw our worth and didn’t treat us the way our sins deserved. Now let us extend grace to others.
Lest The Cross Of Christ Be Emptied Of Power.
(1 Corinthians 1:17) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel–not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
Beautifully stated, the Apostle Paul pens those powerful words. How often is it the temptation for a Christian to rely on air tight theological arguments to persuade the lost soul to trust Christ, however, the gospel in itself is “The power of God” to transform lives. Although there is a time and place for deep theological discourse, we must though not trust our words or human ingenuity to persuade any one.
When David faced Goliath, Saul tried to equip David with his sword and armor. David refused, it only got in the way of David being able to move well. All he needed to defeat the giant was his sling, a stone, and his faith in Almighty God and Goliath went down.
All we need really is to present the simple message: “God loves you so he came as Christ to die for all the sins you have committed against him and others. He paid it all so you can be made brand new and live a life pleasing to him in His mighty power and strength. If you believe this and genuinely want this, you will be saved. Doesn’t matter what you have done, nor your history or background is because God will save all who put their trust in His only Son Jesus Christ.”
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,-Romans 10:12
Always treat everyone you meet as someone Christ hung on the cross for, whether your friends, family, people you meet at the grocery store, or people who sit next to you at work. Whether they love you or hate you, Christ died for their sins and loves them. God’s heart is that all who come to Christ can be forgiven and restored to God. He did this for you and he did it for me,
Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
God loved you friend just as much before you were saved as he does now that you are saved. “God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us” Romans 5:8 –If this were not true than why on earth would he die for those he did not love? John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whomsoever will believe in him will not perish but have eternal life. — and if you don’t yet know God, it is in His heart to pursue you and seek you out wherever you are at, You do nothing to initiate this but God looks down and sees the worth he put on your life and sees it as redeemable no matter what you have done or who you are in the present. God loves you where your at and demostrates through his own son’s death he wants you. He will not force this on anyone, however whoever does accept this and take it to heart can be completely saved, forgiven totally, and given a new nature.
The Gospel preached is powerful, but the Gospel demonstrated is even more so. It is ultimately the kindness and love of God that draws men and women to the truth, and when we exercise God’s love as we should it can be that bridge that can reach even the most hostile of unbelievers. Always try to reach their hearts when you cannot persuade their intellect.
Man’s solution to sin in the world is politics, God’s solution is Christ on the cross. Laws can restrain evil but the cross can crucify it.
Romans 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
The Gospel is not just something we as Christians preach to people. It’s more than that. The Gospel is something we must also invest in people. Relationships are very important when done the right way, since people are relational beings we must be just as willing to walk with them as we do talk to them in our pursuit to share the love and truth of Jesus.
If Jesus was running for President he would most definantely not be a Democrat or Republican, He would be part of the “God’s Word Party” and the “I am Lord of your life party” and the “Every belief and opinion of your life must match my Word” party. At the end of the day, the ultimate and perfect political system will be under Christ’s reign in His millennial kingdom. No war, no famine, no hunger, crime, sin, pollution, terrorism, or anything of that sort. We invest so much in things to try to make this world better, but this “world and it’s desires will pass away, but the one who does the will of God will live forever” 1 John 2:17— Indeed as Christian’s we should try to be salt and light and spread the news of God’s love and truth but let us remember, the World is not our home but is under the control of the evil one for the time. We can’t save what is already doomed, but we can invest in souls who are far more precious. We must pray for people, share the good news with people, and share Christ’s love whether well received or not.
Many people are disillusioned with the way things are, and I will say, rightly so. Cause no government or President or politician can do what only THE KING can.
Revelations 21:He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
If your tired of politics and endless problems that have no solutions, then there is good news for all who humbly submit in this life to Christ’s kingship. He has the perfect kingdom and a better country for all those who put there faith and trust in him! Humans fail, no matter how close or who they are, and that is why it says:
Jeremiah 17:5 “This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD. …
Although we should always vote for the most God honoring candidates, we should not put our trust in flesh and blood to fix the world’s sin problem. Trust Christ to be the ultimate solution for broken humanity.
Motives for preaching the gospel
Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter and in spite of his grim looking situation he praised God that the good news about Jesus Christ was spreading through the Roman world. In the midst of being confined in a dungeon without knowing whether his release was coming or his execution, he also had to deal with people who were spreading the gospel but only for the motives to make Paul’s confinement all the more unpleasant.
Philippians 1:15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,
The Apostle Paul knew something a lot of us don’t consider today when we share Christ with non believers, in spite of ill motives of some people who may give Christ a bad name with their behavior the truth is that no human being can thwart God’s plan. He realized that the Gospel was the power of God to convert the souls of those who heard it. The people who share Christ out of “envy and rivalry” will receive no reward from the Lord even if it saves thousands. At the end of the day the Lord will look at the size of the heart rather than the size of success. Winning one soul for Christ out of love is better than winning a thousand souls for the sake of selfish prestige.
The second truth Paul was aware of was that even if The gospel was preached out of insincerity by some it would still save some. The power is in the Word of Truth and not the mouth piece
