God Finishes What He Starts!

God Finishes What He Starts. Don’t get discouraged.

1 Chronicles 28:20 Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the Lord’s house is finished.

How can we relate this to a New Covenant Christian? Who now is the temple of God? Are we not the people of God through faith in Christ. For does it not say in scripture, “Do you not know your bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 (Corinthians 6:19)

“He won’t leave you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the Lord’s house is finished. ” David declared to his Son Solomon, but God now declares to us who know him and love him, “He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

God Understands The Feelings of Abuse.

What would you say if I told you, God can sympathize with the afflictions of the afflicted and the burdens of the downcast in heart?

It’s true. Jesus suffered at the hands of merciless sinners, for the sins of all mankind but he was not just bullied, beaten and abused but also hung brutally on a cross made for criminals.

Now, I have been bullied and mistreated in my life, but nothing like that. I have been insulted and mocked by people but not even close to that degree. However, I want to offer the encouragement that Jesus can understand human suffering. He knows exactly how it feels to be mistreated for no reason at all.

Isaiah 53:1-5 Who has believed our messageand to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind,a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faceshe was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our painand bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God,stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

“By his wounds we are healed” it concludes.

When we are dealing with emotional wounds from mistreatment or abuse, we know he can heal our wounds and bandage our hearts with his love and grace.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenheartedand binds up their wounds.

May I offer a word of encouragement, no matter who has wronged you or abused you, whether a bully at school, a parent, someone we trusted like a loved one or friend, God can heal your heart and use them for good. We must cooperate with the doctor though, we must give him access to our infected sores in our bleeding hearts.

We must not blame ourselves for other people’s sin, for we are responsible only for how we have wronged God and others. We cannot take the blame for evil things done at the hands of others though.

Jeremiah 31:29-30 “In those days people will no longer say,‘ The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge.

A parent or family member who abuses a child is guilty alone. It is not a child’s fault when a parent or relative does wrong to them, nor is it our faults when people at school, work, or any other place treat us in a sinful fashion. God will hold each person accountable for themselves and not others poor choices. So someone out here needing to hear this, I say, it is not your fault you were abused, childhood abuse often brings false guilt that we were a contributor to the victimizer’s actions. This is a lie, so do not believe it.
God loves you my friend(s) and the value he sets on your life cannot be altered by others. It is God who gives you significance, purpose and value, so do not let others rob you of this!

Spiritual surgery: Sometimes we do not enjoy God’s methods of bringing us to greater wholeness. Even though the outcome is good, the process in my experience can be agonizing. God is not mean, cruel, or sadistic but he is kind of like a skillful surgeon who has no alternative but to operate and cut into the diseased parts of our hearts and lives. Pain often times can be an instrument that cuts into our selfishness and prideful egos. When we go through tough times we realize how small and unimportant we really are and we become more humble, or that should be the goal. As we are being emptied of ourselves and selfishness we become more useful to love and serve others at a greater capacity. Wholeness is God’s goal, he does not inflict pain without a good reason in mind. He will use whatever he can to turn us from destructive ways or mature us into the people we ought to be as Christ’s followers.

Job 5:18 For He crushes but also binds up; He strikes, but His hands also heal.

Sometimes our lives feel like shattered shards of glass, but if I can call to attention those beautiful stained glass windows and masterpieces. Only God can take our ordinary hurts and mess and make it into a masterpiece. We must let him have our broken pieces though.

God created Eve out of Adam’s wholeness, not his lack. Christ is all we need for a whole life and anything extra is an added blessing. God can and will be all you need if you let him, whether your a single Christian or a married one, you are complete in Christ. He is all you need and without him all else loses meaning.

Do not wait for that day that God will really use you. Why? Cause you don’t have to wait, today is that day! Did not Peter write in 1 Peter 1:3 “3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” You don’t have to wait for some special point in your life where you are “more sanctified”—When you trusted in Jesus for your salvation and the forgiveness of your sins he did not give you part of the Holy Spirit, NO, he deposited all of his power and riches in you so that you can live in victory over sin and have what Jesus called “the abundant life” So many Christians are living in spiritual poverty and need not to, I know this because I was too not long ago. Don’t beg God for his grace or strength any longer, but believe it is already in you and in faith just use it. “We walk by faith, not by sight” God’s power is not a feeling it’s a choice that all believers have.

Real Healing

Jesus is willing to heal our hearts

Jesus is the only solution to the wounded heart, the deepest injuries inside of us. He is willing to heal all those who ask him as we see in

Matthew 8:1-3 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.

God desires to heal his chosen people and all who come to him in faith. No God will not always perform a physical healing but He has an even greater miracle for every believer who will reach out to Him and kneel before him and acknowledge all their wounds and baggage, I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt God wants us to be Whole in our emotional and spiritual life. True healing is indeed inside out, true healing is inside of the man or woman. Indeed if we all were truly aware of how much God loves us and desires the best for us regardless of our past sins, present feelings of inadequacy, current trials and disappointments then we would not be bothered nearly as much by the physical handicaps and rejection or the poor circumstances we ought endure.

The earliest martyrs who died for Christ endured well because the were consumed by Christ. They experienced the love of Christ that “is better than life” (Psalm 63:3) Peter was crucified for his faith in Christ and refused even the dignity of being crucified upright like Jesus was so instead he requested to be hung upside down because He was even unworthy to die upright as His Lord did.

The Apostle John was exiled to the Island of Patmos after his execution was unsuccessful and it was there he wrote Revelations.

In their early years with Jesus these were just ordinary men whom Jesus called. They had problems just like everybody else but the Lord used them to do the unimaginable and incredible. Throughout their lives the Lord changed impulsive, unstable, self righteous, and just an all around around wild bunch of men into Servants of the Living God and Ambassadors of the Gospel!

This did not happen over night, and we don’t always receive instantaneous healing in our hearts or minds either but if we by faith keep pursuing God through Christ we will “Be transformed by the renewing of our mind” (Romans 12)

How God Can Recycle Our Hurts

Have you ever suffered from a case of the Discrimination Mentality Disorder another word for it is a “chip on the shoulder” I suffer from it from time to time and the main symptom is paranoia and suspicion. No its not a mental illness but one who suffers from this will often times subconsciously be looking or expecting to be rejected, profiled, slighted, offended or discriminated against in some way. This causes hightened self protectiveness and the individual will be on the defense a lot of the time. They may take offense or get hurt by things that people say that have nothing in them that an average individual would even think of as being an insult.

Now Im no Psychologist and the word is coined by me. But I believe Its more of a matter of a wounded heart really and not just a disturbed mind! I speak from my own experience primarily and I know what it is like to be hurt by people. Often times there is a deep instilled fear of continuing to be hurt by people, even the people you trust the most. The paranoia in the present moment  might not be an accurate view of reality but never the less underlying cause or emotion that causes the suspicions themselves can be valid. I mean this: there are things in all of our past histories that cause us to believe and perceive certain things about present reality, whether positive or negative, the past can if allowed mold how we think today.

The good news for us who have had past rejections, hurts, disappointments, and failures. We know that as believers in Jesus Christ there is hope and future ahead! And to the audience of those who don’t know Christ on a personal level yet, I will tell you that he loves you also and can definitely help you as well if you entrust all yourself to him, he can give you a beautiful future.

Jesus said these words, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

The heart of Christ is not for you to carry the load alone, He knows your past sins and hurts as well as your present baggage you are still hauling around, and He knows your future as well.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

God can and will take past garbage and present trash we are hauling around such as the insecurities, weaknesses, and even failures, and he can Recycle them into something beautiful. Recycling in the trash world is taking the garbage and some how melting it down and reusing it and making it into a new product! When we go through the heat of life it is melting the junk into glory!!!!!

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

If you don’t know Jesus you can, and he is able to take any old mess you may be in and make you new!

(2 Corinthians 5:17-19) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

(Matthew 11:28-30) ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’
