Trust God For His Best, Don’t Steal His Cookies!

These are two translations of Proverbs 12:12- and this was a verse attached to this evenings devo. Yet so true and timely. We may all get tempted to get angry over what we wanted that maybe someone else seemingly unfairly laid hold of that we had, or maybe wanted. For some it’s the promotion, others a relationship, others still may want more money and material possessions. Now imagine that someone you think was less honorable then yourselves got the things you wanted and you grew envious. Well how foolish it is but it is truly tempting to all of us in someway. In Isaac’s life, the son of Abraham, he was living in the land of the Philistines at the time and on several occassions dug a well for water, yet for the first couple of times the Philistines grew envious and stopped up his wells and quarelled with him. Isaac on the other hand calmly relocated. Abraham his father also had a similar issue with his Nephew Lot, both of them came to the land God swore to gove Abraham and Lot’s men quarelled with Abraham’s men about the land so in response Abraham graciously gave Lot first preference into what part of the land lot wanted. Abraham’s selfless sacrifice od first choice truly ended up to his benefit because the first choice Lot made for himself ended up getting him in trouble. Likewise Abraham’s son Isaac instead of fighting with his jealous Philistine neighbors just took the higher road too and was blessed by God for it.

He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.” [Genesis 26:22]

What today can we learn? Could we not ask ourselves, “Maybe what I lost or did not aquire was for a good reason and the Lord sees best to give me something else or move me somewhere else in my life?”

Trust in God to be wiser at what you truly want and need then what you think you want or need. Does not mean God dies not have good blessings for us, but God opperates according to his way and time- to aquire what we want and in a time God does not see best is in a way stealing from God and gets us into trouble!
