Nehemiah 8:10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Joy and hope allows us as Christians to bear the sourest trials. But give me a man, woman, or even Christian who has lost sight of hope and even lesser challengers become much heavier.
Joy is like lifting a 250 lb. man with a greater ease in water, do to water’s properties even a 250 lb. man becomes easier to lift then if you tried to lift him on dry ground. Has the man’s weight changed? No. But has the dynamic changed to make lifting the weighty man possible and less strenuous? Yes!
Or take engine oil as another analogy, the friction and stress of life can wear us down and without the joy of the Lord lubricating the gears of our hearts we burn ourselves up fast! Believe me I know. Stress – rest =distress.
Do not wait for that day that God will really use you. Why? Cause you don’t have to wait, today is that day! Did not Peter write in 1 Peter 1:3 “3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” You don’t have to wait for some special point in your life where you are “more sanctified”—When you trusted in Jesus for your salvation and the forgiveness of your sins he did not give you part of the Holy Spirit, NO, he deposited all of his power and riches in you so that you can live in victory over sin and have what Jesus called “the abundant life” So many Christians are living in spiritual poverty and need not to, I know this because I was too not long ago. Don’t beg God for his grace or strength any longer, but believe it is already in you and in faith just use it. “We walk by faith, not by sight” God’s power is not a feeling it’s a choice that all believers have.
