“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. (Isaiah 60:1-2)
We all have probably heard the song as kids, “Rise and shine, it’s time to get up in the morning!”
Yet in the morning we have the opportunity to start our waking moments letting Jesus Christ shine into our days and bring His light into our hearts. We cannot go without this light- for indeed,
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 –
So indeed to seek Him in the morning, upon when we first awake, we invite His light to shine on our ways and make bright the road we walk that day. Ah can we afford to walk in the dark? Can we navigate by mere human reasoning ans wisdom? Can we predict the future or know what each day may hold? For indeed we cannot, but He who knows all, knows what lies ahead.
If you are a Christ follower, you have never a need to be unsure of what you must do or what path to take. After all, He as a guide can make clear everything we must do in every situation we could possibly face.
Indeed! What a advantage we have that non believers do not. We do not have to wander through our days lost and confused.
This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:14-16)
But behold reader, how can you not be unwise or ignorant when the Book is closed, when the Scriptures are left unread and prayer is neglected. Has not God promised wisdom to those who ask? For James says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5)
So you indeed dear believer must daily ask God for His light and wisdom to guide your day, and also, you must open the Scriptures daily yourself to learn from them
For as it says: I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Psalm 119:16 –
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105 –
So we have no excuse to be in the dark if we are truly born again believers. We have the resources in the Word and the access to the heavenly Father through prayer, we should make the most of such wonderful blessings!
