Now seemingly women go nuts about the actual stuff but see a spiritual lesson. When Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God they hid from him and one another in the garden. Also today we are aware of our own flaws and guilt that our sin leaves us with and many today make-up with their “good deeds” yet when we receive Christ as Lord and Savior and see how much God loved us to die in our place to make up for what we cannot, that should result for all of us in a spiritual face lift as we glow the radiance of his love toward those who also have not had the reconstructive surgery of a “New heart” that Ezekial prophesied God would finally give those who he chose to make brand new in the attitude of their loyalty to him and worship.
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” [Ezekiel 36:25-27]
In John 3:3 Jesus said, “Unless a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
And that is why Jesus came, to save us from the ugliness of our own sin. We do not have to brush over that soul celulite or drooping countanence of the inner person. God said, “Cain why is your face downcast? If you do what is right will you not also be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your doorstep. It seeks to have you but you must rule over it.”
Unfortunately Cain did not, and so often we do not either and we need the transforming work of Christ from within to give us the power that we receive by faith to live new! We can try to do temporary fixes for our guilt and sin in the form of good works and behavior modifications but these temporarily cover up our unrighteousness but Christ wants to wash it away!
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
