Doggon Dogmas

Top few bad theologies that need to be scrapped from Christian circles.

1.) If you have enough faith God will always heal you.

Big in the charismatic circles. In 2 Corinthians 12 Paul had a “Thorn in the flesh” that he pleaded with God 3 times to remove but instead of removing it God gave him supernatural grace. Also in another letter Paul mentions a sick individual that did not get “healed” -2

Timothy 4:20-21 Erastus has remained at Corinth; I left Trophimus sick at Miletus. Make every effort to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers.

In addition, (Philippians 2:26-27) since he has been longing for all of you and was distressed because you heard that he was sick. Indeed, he was so sick that he nearly died. However, God had mercy on him, and not only on him but also on me, so that I would not have one grief on top of another.

Did Paul not have enough faith? Did Timothy not have enough faith? Fortunately God spared his life but it is most certainly not always a “lack of faith” that prevents people from recovering from illness.

2.) Licentiousness- I am saved by grace so I can sin all I want.

1 John 3:6 Everyone who remains in Him does not sin; everyone who sins has not seen Him or known Him.
This is not to suggest Christian’s become sinless as much as do not habitually and unrepentantly practice sin.
SEE also Romans 6.

3.) Legalism- I am saved by grace + ……..

Ephesians 2:8-9 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.

4.) Speaking in tongues is the “Evidence of Salvation”

Jesus said, “If you love me you will obey my teachings”

1 John teaches “We know we have come to know him if we obey his commands”
I cannot find a single or solid passage in scripture that states speaking in tongues is THE evidence of salvation.

These are just a few fallacies that have been widely embraced. The propagation of such ideas does no good for the Church or soul winning either.
