The Bible “Anti Woman”? No way!!!

Matthew 27:55-56 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.

These women followed Jesus to the cross and were weeping that their Lord and Savior had been condemned to die as a criminal, though he had done no wrong. He was sentenced to death despite his miracles and acts of kindness to many people in need!

This for one shows us the unpredictable nature of people who may love you one moment and throw you under the bus the next. These people did not just throw Christ under the bus but nailed him to a cross.

Yet, these women went out of their way to care for his needs and even risk their own lives out of loyalty to this man, the man Jesus Christ.

Far cry from the “Christianity is anti woman” hunk of nonsense. Jesus treated women with dignity and kindness. Earlier on In John 8 a woman had been caught committing adultery so the religious leaders brought her before Jesus and said, “and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” John 8:4-5

Jesus replied after writing something on the ground, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7)

The story goes on like this:

“Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said.“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” (John 8:8-11)

Jesus did not turn a blind eye to sin but Jesus also knew this woman’s story, and why she did the things she did. Jesus saw the hurt and brokenness and not just the violation of God’s law. He gave her a new lease on life.
