Are you still a Vampire

Are you a Vampire still?

John 3:16-21 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

People who are entangled in the chains of sin and darkness love the light just as much as vampires enjoy sitting on a sunny beach in mid summer. Jesus came as the light of the world and came to free us all from the darkness of our souls. Some will accept this and embrace it, yet others will flee from it like an insect when the lights in a room come on.

Before I knew Christ on a personal level, before his love reached the deepest parts of my soul, I tried to not think of God as often as I could avoid it because I knew how I was living and the implications of my sin. God however captured my heart and purified my soul from the disease and sickness.

1 Thessalonians 5:7-9 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

God saved all of us who are now his children and he continues to save. I was in a way like a vampire feeding my insatiable lust for sin like a vampire feeds insatiably on blood. But the true antidote for such a disease is the Blood, the blood of Christ to purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
